Day 25 and we've made it to Scotland! And the sun is shining!
The Isle of Skye is the largest and northernmost of the major islands in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The island has been occupied since the Mesolithic period, and over its history has been occupied at various times by Celtic tribes including the Picts and the Gaels, Scandinavian Vikings, and most notably the powerful integrated Norse-Gaels clans of MacLeod and MacDonald. The island was considered to be under Norwegian suzerainty until the 1266 Treaty of Perth, which transferred control over to Scotland.
We took a tour around the north part of the isle and it was spectacular. We grabbed a few photos of the countryside and of the brightly colored buildings in the harbor.
It is the next to last night on the ship (after more than 3 weeks) and the crew treated us well at dinner. The bottle of chianti was a real surprise. The food photos I post are normally just of my meal but below you'll see that Mae's dishes were quite nice as well.
Tomorrow we land in Belfast under what is forecast to be sunny skies. We'll see....
