Day 45 - Paris, France - August 7

Follow our journey on this map.

Day 45 and we’re going to Disneyland Paris!

Yes, on purpose. Yes, with no kids. Because we go to Disney World several times each year we (ok, Brad) wanted to see how Disneyland Paris compared; especially so because it’s the 30th anniversary of the park.

The day started, of course, with a huge breakfast complete with croissants, baguettes, eggs, and bacon. Diets start soon!

We hopped on the Metro and an hour later we arrived at the park. The first impression was that it was strikingly like Disney World but with a distinctive European flair. The fact that the physical space was much smaller than Disney World was a particular advantage for this tired crew.

We walked a lot, went on a few rides, and of course had a lot to eat!

Everything was going smoothly until Brad wanted to go on the Indiana Jones Temple of Peril ride. He assured everyone that even though it was a roller coaster it was smooth and relaxing for all ages (at least how I heard it). I’m instantly out. No roller coaster of any kind for me. Everyone went with Brad. I sat with the moms holding all the bags (see the photos). I settled in for a little nap and just when I got settled, the crew was back. One person was looking sheepish (Brad) the others were either looking sick or having a meltdown.

The roller coaster was not as expected. It had a loop that took everyone upside down; the seats were not to US safety standards (as pointed out by Lynn) because heads were bouncing side to side followed by whiplash.

We all are still laughing. Somewhat.

Dinner was at an on-property restaurant where we all decided that we may be too old for 8 days of this level of partying. Someone may have napped on the way back to condo.

Tomorrow is our last day. The only thing on the agenda is a private dinner with a MasterChef winner. We don’t know what to expect but I’m sure it will be great.

The time has just flown by. We’ve seen so much. Laughed so hard. Mae’s tired so she’s cried so much. Eaten so much. Enjoyed each other’s company to the utmost.
