Day 11 - Husavik, Iceland - July 4

Follow our journey on this map.

Day 11 in Husavik was an absolute blast. OK, this was totally different from the brochure. Look below at the promo photo from the venue and what we experienced.

Despite the 20-24 mph sustained winds, coming across the North Atlantic Ocean head-on into the infinity geothermal pool complete with sleet, we had a ball! The bus drove the 4 minutes to the bath and dropped us off in front. The challenge of getting down the steps in facing the brunt of the wind and ice/snow was half the fun. Once inside we made a quick dash from the locker rooms into the pools.

The heat came from two pipes that were drilled into theearth's core to harness the hot water (which is quite common throughout Iceland). They had a separate pool thatwas just a few degrees cooler. I had to brave the elements shortly after entering the pool to go back to the locker room and get my baseball cap. The sleet/hail/snow was denting my bald scalp!

The rain continued until departure so we didn't get off the ship once we returned.

Dinner was great, and of course, there are some food shots to memoralize it!

Rain is projected each day until we reach Rekjavik on Saturday.
